In an effort to protect individuals and OhioMeansJobs Center staff, all PRC walk-in appointments are suspended until further notice. However, applicants may still apply for PRC benefits. Applicants may complete an application and submit the application and copies of four consecutive paystubs if paid weekly or two consecutive paystubs if paid bi-weekly; copies of Social Security cards for all members of the household; a 3-day eviction notice for rent assistance; a foreclosure letter for mortgage assistance; a utility disconnect notice for assistance with utilities; and a copy of a valid driver’s license, proof of current car insurance and proof of current vehicle registration, if requesting assistance with car repairs. If an applicant is currently unemployed due to COVID-19, the applicant must have an employer letter indicating a return to work date (or reference to return to work such as “until further notice”). If the applicant was unemployed with no return to work date, he/she may be eligible for a one-time COVID-19 Supportive Service Payment (view the COVID-19 information on our website).

Families with minor children, or pregnant individuals, impacted by COVID-19 may apply for non-recurring, one-time benefit assistance for rent/mortgage and utility payments. An eligible applicant must be a parent with a minor child (legal guardian and minor child), or a pregnant individual, whose income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level and who has been unemployed as a result of COVID-19 (employer closed facility; employer reduced staff until further notice; ineligible for unemployment/employer not covered; self-employed impacted by virus).

Applicants will be contacted by an Employment Services Counselor to complete an interview over the phone.
The Prevention, Retention, Contingency (PRC) program helps families residing in Richland County overcome immediate employment-related barriers. The goal is to help families achieve or maintain self-sufficiency.
The goal of the program is to lessen the need for ongoing public assistance by helping families maintain employment.

To be considered for the PRC program applicants must be 18 years old or older, have at least one dependent child under 18 in the household (19 if the child has not graduated high school) and meet income requirements.
In addition, the individual applying for assistance must either be gainfully employed or have an employment offer that can be secured with PRC assistance.
